Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
On Sunday, we celebrated our Grandparents at our final Whole School/Parish Mass. This was a joyful celebration and the children read and sang beautifully. It was lovely to be able to recognise the importance of Grandparents in our families and the role they often play in sharing the family stories and rooting us in our heritage. It was also an opportunity to remember what a blessing it is to be a grandparent.
"May grandchildren brighten your every day. May they fill your heart in beautiful ways. May you love them more than silver or gold. May they be the reason you never grow old".
Thanks also to our special helpers for supporting us with the morning tea and sausage sizzle. It was a beautiful morning and as always, a great chance to connect as a community.
The children are working hard learning songs, dances and lines for our end of term production and it is shaping up to be another great show. We will be trialling a paperless ticketing option this year and will send out all the details asap.
On Thursday, 28th August we are having a Staff Only Day. All staff will be attending a day with internationally renowed speaker and author, David Wells. This day is brought to us via the Archdiocese of Wellington and we are very grateful for the opportunity to listen to such a highly regarded keynote speaker in Theology.
Kelly Club will be offering a full day programme on our Staff Only Day, with options for part or whole day attendance. Please keep an eye open for their advertising and booking instructions for this.
Just a reminder that nominations close for School Board of Trustees Elections on Wednesday, 6th August. All eligible voters are able to self-nominate or nominate another person. If you are interested in becoming a member of our School Board, please ensure your nomination is received by 12p.m. on that date.
In April 2024, the Government announced a regular attendance target of 80 percent of students to be present for more than 90% of the term by 2030.
Our Term 2 data shows a pleasing increase in attendance. The image below also classifies the type of absence recorded. As you can see our main absences are medical and holidays during school term time.
It is also great to see an increase in regular attendance and a decrease in chronic absence.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā - Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 3rd August, 2025
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 12:13-21
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to share what we have with others. When we think only of ourselves and not of what help we can give to others, we are like the wealthy man in this Gospel. Jesus challenges us to remember that our life should not be measured by our possessions. As followers of Christ, we are called to do our part in sharing what we do have with those in need.
Court'. We are all looking forward to the Disco. It has already been a busy start to the term!

Young Vinnies Initiative - Homemade Lemonade!
Next week on Wednesday, 6th August, the Young Vinnies will be running a lemonade stand at lunchtime. We would appreciate it if you have any spare lemons at home that you could bring to Room 10 on Monday or Tuesday.
1 glass of lemonade is a gold coin donation and all of the money will be going to Samoa, Tonga and Sri Lanka. We will be doing it on the deck outside Room 1.
Thank you, in advance, for your support.

For Term 3: There will be a total of 10 Fridays that pizza will be available for you to order.
To order pizza and/or ice blocks for your child, please follow ONE of the two processes below:
1. ORDERS FOR THE TERM: Pizza will be available for 10 WEEKS this term. So if ordering for the term, just multiply by 10. If you decide part way through the term, then calculate how many Fridays are left. Send an email to the team, outlining the following information for each child you are ordering for BUT in one email is fine.
Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term, simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
