Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
We have been blessed with very settled weather for our contractors and hope this continues so they can complete the job by the end of this term. The concrete truck turned up this week which was exciting for everyone as this means the kerbing is in and the turf won't be far behind. We have the area mapped out for the sandpit, mud kitchen and play area which will compliment the whole design. It is so wonderful to see the outcome of all the fundraising and saving we have done over the past few years become a reality. This will future-proof the school grounds and allow the children access year round.

On Sunday, many of our children will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at our 9.30a.m. Mass. We wish them and their whanau every blessing for this very special time.
As you will have heard, St Theresa's School turns 75 this year. We have set the date to celebrate: Thursday, 12 September 9.30 - 11.30a.m. and will be having a Mass which will be celebrated by Archhbishop Paul Martin. We need your help to get the word out to as many former families as we can. Please use the link in this newsletter to RSVP and share with anyone who you think might be interested in joining us.
Our Matariki celebration will be held on Wednesday, 26th June here at school, beginning at 5p.m. We will start in the Church with our songs, stories and play and then head outside for kai and the fire show. We are offering a sausage sizzle, hot chocolate and star cookies again this year and any offers of help would be greatly accepted by the Parents & Friends group. Please email office@stp.school.nz if you can help in any way.
Room 3 have lovely new furniture in their classroom, so we have an excess of tables and chairs to give away. We have 3 big blue tables that would be great outside or in a playroom and 20 small chairs. If you would like any of them, please let Gina know and we can arrange pick up.

Porirua Child Adolescent Mental Health Services are presenting a talk and have sent an open invitation to anyone from St Theresa's who would be interested in attending. "Raising Emotionally Healthy Children " will be held at the Plimmerton School Hall on Wednesday, 19th June 5.30p.m. - 7p.m. Topics include: Basic brain anatomy for emotional regulation, emotional coaching skills and understanding how our own emotions guide our parenting.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā - Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 16th June, 2024
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 4:26–34
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the mustard seed. He uses a mustard seed to show how the smallest of seeds can grow into the biggest plants. The seed is a metaphor for how the Kingdom of God grows slowly over time. In our lives when we give small acts of kindness, they add up to make a big difference in our world and contribute to the growth of God’s Kingdom.
In Room 8 we have been learning about the many miracles that Jesus performed. We have been thinking about the messages that Jesus wants us to teach and learn about. We have also been making some artwork about the miracles using different patterns and shapes, as well as thinking about the different characters involved.
Persephone-Jiselle Leone, sister of Azriel in Room 8 and daughter of Ierome and Alysha has joined the children in Room 2.
Kailey Garthwaite, sister of Skylar in Room 4 and daughter of Stephen and Salena, has started 'big' school in Room 1.
We hope all your years here at St. T's will be happy and memorable for both of you!
Inter-Schools Cross Country: Congratulations to our Cross Country team. Special mention to Matthew Bleach who came 1st, Will Croasdale who was 5th and Emilia Bleach who came 12th. We were so impressed with the whole team who did their best. It is a great experience for the children and it is fantastic to see their resilience.
Taking action for the environment
We planted grasses and ground cover at Papakowhai Reserve as part of an initiative of the Porirua City Council. This was the first time many of the children had planted a tree. So cool!
ShowQuest performance by our Year 5s & 6s
In Week 6, St Theresa's took part in ShowQuest. This was an amazing experience for them all and they learned so much. I think you'll all agree that their performance was awesome! We want to share some of the photos we have and also, there is a link to our whole performance. Enjoy!
