Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
It always makes me so proud to see how quickly our children offer their help without being asked. These children jumped to help without being asked last week, displaying our mission of 'never seeing a need without doing something about it'. Last week we purchased another new barbeque which gives us a 6-burner and a 4-burner option. These BBQs are used regularly for Parish/School Masses, Matariki, the Xmas Fun Night and other school events. Thanks to Ian Capewell for assembling them both for us.
The heavy rain we have experienced over the last couple of weeks has brought with it a few challenges and identified some issues. Whilst we were all very relieved that there wasn't a serious flood, there was definately some PTSD around what may happen. The end court area has some issues with the drainage and I have been in contact with the Porirua City Council around this. We also had Koa Martel, our property manager from the Archdiocese of Wellington, out today to assess the situation and support us in developing a long-term future-proofed plan. Thanks for your support and patience with this as we try to get it resolved.

On Sunday we farewelled Fr. Andrew with Mass and a morning tea. The children were a real credit to us all and we were very proud of them. The singing and music was lovely and the readings and prayers were beautifully read. We shared a farewell video from the staff and children and Fr. Andrew was very moved by this. We wish him all the very best in Nelson and look forward to seeing him for a visit on the 12th.

Just a reminder: We have our 75th Jubilee celebration on Thursday, 12th September starting at 9.30am. We will begin with a blessing of the artwork we have installed and then move to the Church for Mass and morning tea. We have Archbishop Paul Martin celebrating Mass for us and everyone is very welcome to attend.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 8th September, 2024
Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 7:31-37
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus restores a man's speech and hearing by touching the his ears and tongue and praying aloud. After this, the healed man and his friends share about what Jesus has done. We are reminded in this Gospel that the Sacraments are gifts which help us to share the good news of Jesus with others.
We have had a busy term in Room 7. We have been working on multiplication and division in Maths and our strand focus has been Geometry. We have been learning about reflection, symmetry, rotation and translation. We made windmills that rotate and made shapes and creations that reflect.
We had a great trip to the Botanical Gardens earlier in the term. We went to Discovery Garden and learnt about 'Planting through the Seasons'. We made some seed pots out of newspaper and planted some seeds. We also got to try some kawakawa tea. We then visited Space Place and learnt about the movement of the earth, moon and sun.
We love art in Room 7 and have created some beautiful artwork about Mary MacKillop for our School’s 75th Jubilee this month.
We have also finished our calendar art. This year we created family portraits. We are very proud of them and hope you like them too.
Sparks of God - Term 3, Week 6
A great Week 6 for these SPARKs - already over this term's halfway mark and still going strong. Keep it up, everyone!
Welcome to Room 5's new student
Wilbur Jebson, brother of Evie in Room 3 and son of Jennifer and Alex, has joined the other students in Room 5. We're sure he already feels well at home and hope that all the years ahead at St. T's are filled with great memories. Welcome, Wilbur!
Daffodil Day - what a great outcome!
Thank you so much to all of you who supported the Cancer Society's Daffodil Day fundraiser. A total of $347.10 was raised for this worthy cause.

For Term 3: There will be a total of 10 Fridays that pizza will be available for you to order - that is for every Friday of the term. This term's fundraising is for Camp 2024 and will be administered by parents whose children are attending camp this year. We will revert to the general fundraising for school in Term 4.
To order pizza and/or ice blocks for your child, please follow ONE of the two processes below:
1. ORDERS FOR THE TERM: Pizza will be available for 10 WEEKS this term. So if ordering for the term, just multiply by 10. If you decide part way through the term, then calculate how many Fridays are left. Send an email to the team, outlining the following information for each child you are ordering for BUT in one email is fine.
Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all
the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to
the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term,
simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
kaiorders@stp.school.nz
Payment by internet banking only to 12 3254 0109325 00 using the
reference PIZZA. The team would appreciate a screenshot of your
payment, sent to their email address.
