Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Last week I attended the Trans-Tasman Principals Conference in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. This event is held every 4 years and is an opportunity for Principals across Australia and New Zealand to learn together and make new connections. The keynote speakers were very high quality and included Dr. Hana O'Regan https://core-ed.org/mi_NZ/about-core/our-people/hana-oregan/, Dr. Jordan Nguyen https://www.drjordannguyen.com/ and many more. Our final, very uplifting keynote was from ex All Blacks Mental Skills Coach, Gilbert Enoka and left everyone feeling very inspired.
Our PB4L focus this term has been Aroha. This is a whole-school initiative and it is always great to see the way the children support one another to achieve our target. The children have voted and 'Movie Afternoon' has won. Today they will be receiving their gold token reward of a movie and popcorn.

This term we have definitely had our share of bugs, with gastro, colds and flu and even Covid making an appearance. We are hoping the term break settles the spread and we can have a relatively bug-free Term 4.
Travel safely if you are going away and remember Daylight Savings starts this weekend, so don't forget to adjust those clocks.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 29th September, 2024
Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 9:38-43,45,47-48
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus teaches that whoever is not against Him is for Him. He reassures us that no matter where we are on our faith journey, He is there for us. During our life our faith changes; it ebbs and flows and we are likely to have times when we feel like we have little faith. In this Gospel, Jesus talks about how it is important to not hinder or judge anyone else’s faith journey. Jesus will never judge but will always be there if we reach out, especially in those times of doubt.
It has been a busy and fun-filled term in Room 5!
We now have 10 children in Room 5! We have been busy learning a lot about Aoteoroa as part of our Inquiry. We have had a lot of fun with it and are so excited to share what we have been up to.
A part of this was our recent trip to Pataka. Rooms 1 and 2 came along too and what a fun day it was! We got to see the Te Awarua-o-Porirua Gallery which ‘reads’ like a pictorial timeline and history picture-book come to life. It’s a great way for younger children to explore how life around the harbour has changed over time.
We also learnt about Tapa printing and even got to try and make some of our own. We were so happy to get them back this week so we could revisit what we had learnt.

To order pizza and/or ice blocks for your child, please follow ONE of the two processes below:
1. ORDERS FOR THE TERM: Pizza will be available for 8 WEEKS this term. So if ordering for the term, just multiply by 8. If you decide part way through the term, then calculate how many Fridays are left. Send an email to the team, outlining the following information for each child you are ordering for BUT in one email is fine.
Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all
the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to
the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term,
simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
