Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
On Friday we enjoyed a day at the beach. It was a fun day out and the children enjoyed swimming, making sand castles and digging tunnels on the beach. Thank you to everyone who walked with us and helped supervise the children.
Planning is well underway for our March Madness Fair on Saturday, 22nd March. We still need lots of helpers on the day so please sign up for a role. If you're not sure what's involved, please ask your child's teacher or Gina in the office. It's always a fun day and our major fundraiser for the year.
We are still collecting responses to our survey regarding recapitation of Year 7 and 8 students. If you haven't filled it in yet, please do so on the link below.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, the whole teaching staff attended the first 2 days of their Structured Literacy Professional Development. This PD is provided by the Ministry of Education and will continue throughout the year. Thank you for your support of our team of relievers who fitted in so well.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā - Have a great weekend.

We have two more new entrants!
Once again, we warmly welcome two new students into our Year 1 classrooms.
Tyson Hill, son of Jo and Peter, started his school life in Room 2;
Thea Jackson, sister of Hugo in Room 7 and daughter of Aron and Gemma, started in Room 1.
Many happy years, Tyson and Thea! We hope all your memories of school life here at St. T's will be wonderful.
Board Talk from our Presiding Member, Mike Tohill
Welcome to a new school year. Last Wednesday we had our first Board of Trustees meeting. It was great to get back together again. We have said farewell to Jocelyn Bryant, who has decided to step back from the Board. I want to say thank you to Jocelyn who has been an absolute asset to the Board of Trustees. Your thoughts and ideas were always right on the mark and much appreciated.
We welcomed three new members, with Fr Ravi joining us as a Proprietor's Appointee along with Alice Muollo and Rick Stace, who have been selected to join the Board to fill the vacancies that existed. Welcome to the Board - I know you will all make a valuable contribution.
In the meeting we discussed the budget for the year ahead. As with previous years, we will require a team effort in relation to fundraising from the school community to ensure that we have the funds available to continue to make St. Theresa’s the most amazing school in the area. With that in mind, the school fair is coming up in March so if you haven’t signed up to help out then put your name down as soon as possible. It is going to be a great event.
Being the first meeting of the year and with three new members, we ran an induction session. It was a good reminder of our Board responsibilities for our longer term members as well.
As I consider who we have on the Board and the capability of our leadership team, teachers and support staff, I am really excited about the year ahead. We have a high-performing team and the results really show that. Our achievement data has shown that we are providing our kids with the best start to their learning journey and I have no doubt that will continue this year.
Nga mihi

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us during this challenging time. Your generosity, kind words and encouragement have meant so much to us.
We also want to update you all on Holly’s journey. She is scheduled for a biopsy and removal of a portion of her parietal lobe on Wednesday, 5th March which will help confirm the diagnosis of Rasmussen’s Encephalitis. This is an important step before we move forward with any larger surgeries, as we work towards the best possible outcome for her.
We are staying hopeful and are incredibly grateful for the love and support from all of you. We will keep you posted as we move forward.
Thank you again for being a part of Holly's journey.
Lots of love Fran & Fraser.

School Sports Hoodies for Years 2 - 6
There is the opportunity for students in Years 2 – 6 to purchase a hoodie as part of our sports uniform. These hoodies do not replace our school jersey and cannot be worn to and/or from school unless children are wearing their PE uniform for a sports event. However, they can be worn at school with their uniform. It is an OPTIONAL part of the PE uniform and there is no obligation to purchase one.
The navy blue hooded sweatshirt has the school name and logo printed on the front and your child’s name/wording screen printed on the back.
The sweatshirts come in sizes 6 (L40cm, C78cm), 8 (L43cm, C80cm), 10 (L48cm, C90cm), 12 (L52cm, C92cm), 14 (L60cm, C100cm) and 16. L = length, C = chest. These measurements are approximate and the length is taken from the front neck of the hoodie to the bottom. There are some sample sizes available if you would like to try one on your child first. The cost per sweatshirt is $80. The school will not accept responsibility for the size you/your child chooses.
If you would like to order one, please return the slip below. Payment must be made at the time of ordering and this can be done via the Internet (preferred option) to our school account (12 3254 0109325 00), in cash or by Eftpos.

Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term, simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
