Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
It was a pleasure to witness the Baptism of 3 of our students and 1 younger brother yesterday at a special school celebration. These children, along with Saylor from Room 2 and Zoey from Room 8, have been preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism with Livvy McKennie, our Director of Religious Studies, over the past month. Carly, Kairi and Cillian, Thea, Zoey and Saylor - we pray that you continue to grow with Jesus, in faith and love and that your God Spark shines brightly. God bless you all.
On Saturday evening at the 6p.m. Vigil Mass, a group of children will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Archbishop Paul Martin will be presiding at the Mass. We congratulate these children and pray for many blessings on them all as they continue on their faith journeys. Thank you to Angela Cole and Maria Gair who have prepared the children and their families to receive this Sacrament.
The children from our school are:
Ellie Anquetil, Jasmine Barbarouses, Matthew Bastian, Willow Cooling, Braeden Jeyathas, Isaac Kerr, Zoë McCarthy, Niamh McMinn, Flynn Mischewski, Grace Mischewski, Olivia Murphy, Elliot Reading, Ana Robinson, Mila Robinson, Oliver Song and Ava Stace.
Next Tuesday, 17th June, is our annual school Matariki celebration. All the details you need are in this newsletter. We look forward to seeing you all there. The celebration starts at 5p.m. in the Church.
The Book Fair and Book Character Dress Up Day is always a highlight in the school calendar. Mrs. Hunt and the Learning Hub student leaders have been busy getting ready for this. The theme is ‘Under the Sea’. We are all looking forward to seeing what characters step out of books and into the classrooms tomorrow and of course, it will be exciting to see what the teachers come up with for this year's Book Character Assembly.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā - Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday,15th June, 2025
The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
John 16:12-15
In this world of constant busyness and friends at our fingertips through social media, it is amazing that at times we can find ourselves feeling more alone than ever.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples that the Holy Spirit will guide them, that even when He has left this Earth, they will never be alone.
This Gospel reminds us that we, too, are never alone and we can ask the Spirit to guide and support us in making loving, honest connections with others as Jesus did on Earth.
Room 7 has been learning about measurement and measuring lengths in centimetres. After lots of practice measuring objects accurately, we put our skills to the test and made kites for Matariki.
Our kites are 20cm long and 14cm wide. We had to measure and make a spine and cross bar. We cut two ribbons for the tail. One had to be 20cm and the other one 30cm. We decorated our kites with pictures and words that remind us of Matariki. We're very proud of our kites.
During Matariki, kites are a way to connect heaven and earth and remember those who have passed away. The te reo word for kites is pākau which means the bird wing.

Congratulations to Carly Everest-Doughty, Thea Jackson and Kairi Apimerika-Curran and her brother Cillian on their Baptism yesterday. We had such a lovely celebration of this Sacrament. It is so special for us to be able to support these children and their families as a part of their school and faith community.

National Blood Donor Week - 9th to 15th June
The NZ Blood Service is calling on everyday NZers to discover their inner superpower by becoming a donor. There is no substitute for human blood and one donation can save up to three lives. PLEASE consider donating - there are donor sites all over Wellington. https://www.nzblood.co.nz/
Check if you're eligible! https://www.nzblood.co.nz/become-a-donor/am-i-eligible/eligibility-quiz/
Just a heads up - On Monday and Tuesday of next week, the Blood Service will be at Pataka in Porirua!
On Thursday, 19th June, we have a Teacher Only Day so our school will not be open for instruction. This is a day designated by the Ministry of Education which is for curriculum purposes, with a focus on Maths.
Friday, 20th June is Matariki so also no school on that day.
For Term 2: There will be a total of 8 Fridays that pizza will be available for you to order for - that is for every Friday of the term until we break up except on Friday, 20th June (Matariki).
To order pizza and/or ice blocks for your child, please follow ONE of the two processes below:
1. ORDERS FOR THE TERM: Pizza will be available for 8 WEEKS this term. So if ordering for the term, just multiply by 8. If you decide part way through the term, then calculate how many Fridays are left. Send an email to the team, outlining the following information for each child you are ordering for BUT in one email is fine.
Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term, simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
kaiorders@stp.school.nz
Payment by internet banking only to 12 3254 0109325 00 using the reference PIZZA. The team would appreciate a screenshot of your payment, sent to their email address.
