Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
This term has been packed with learning opportunities for our students. As well as the core components of Reading, Writing and Maths, there has been lots of other learning happening. Our big school-wide theme for the year is turangawaewae with the children developing an understanding of their local community. Pōhutukawa Pod started the term with a local ‘Food Walk’, exploring all the places they can find food within an hour's walk from school. Pihinga Pod have learnt about the importance of bees in our community and the interdependence of their ecosystem. Kākano learnt about the importance of protecting the ocean from plastic. They spent an hour cleaning up a section of the beach on Tuesday. It is always interesting to see where these initial learning activities lead the children with further investigation and action. Next term will be focussed on our school production. Watch this space!!
A huge congratulations to Payge Garner and Lewis Barwick who will be getting married in Surrey, England in the school holidays. We all wish you both a lifetime of love, joy and happiness together. We look forward to seeing lots of wedding photos when you return.
All curriculum reporting for Reading, Writing, Maths and Key Competency will be on Seesaw by the end of the term. Take some time to read these and be proud of your child's learning achievements.
Kia nui to hararei - Have a great holiday. Keep warm and stay safe.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 29th June, 2025
Saint Peter and Saint Paul Apostles
Matthew 16:13-19
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus recognises Peter as an important leader because he believes that Jesus is the Messiah. Peter played an important role in the early Christian community and helped to build the Church. This was a role given to him by God. We continue to honour Peter and those who have followed him as leaders in the Church. Today, we recognise and honour the pope as Peter's successor. Like Peter, Pope Leo reminds us that we are a people united in the faith that Jesus is God's Son.
Classes of the Week - Room 2 and Room 10
Room 2's Report
The Kākano Pod went to Plimmerton Beach on Tuesday afternoon to clean up rubbish. The children were exceptional at finding little pieces of plastic in the sand. We learnt that plastic in water is not okay and we all need to help to keep it out. MAHI PAI KāKANO POD! You are all kaitiaki.
Room 10's Report by Tessa and Amelie
This term in Room 10, we have been making iStopMotion iMovies about Bible stories such as: Daniel and the Lion's Den, Moses in the Bullrushes, David and Goliath, Jonah and the Whale and Moses and the Red Sea. When we did this we worked in pairs and we were very creative.
We also did a lot of art like pastel taniwha faces and Samoan frangipani flowers with oil pastels. We put these in our hair for the Sasa competition in Week 7, which we did with our buddy classes. We also made some spotted pumpkin drawings inspired by Yayoi Kusama.
This term we have done a lot of work about degrees and measurement with our compasses. We also learnt about the different shapes like scalene triangles, trapezoids and parallelograms.
In Week 6, we went to Holy Family School. We sang songs and made paper stars using glue, sticky notes and colouring pencils. Two weeks later, we went to Bishop Viard College. There we made donuts in Food Science, we studied rocks in Science, read books in the Library and played sports in the gym.
Then at the end of term, we practised our basic facts and did a test on the maths that we’ve learnt throughout the term.
We have had so much fun this term in Room 10 and we hope you have a great holiday this winter!

This week, Victoria Perez started her school life in Room 1. On belhalf of all our school families, we warmly welcome her and her parents, Ryan and Eleanor and wish them many happy years as part of our St. T's community.
Our congratulations to the Erno family on the birth of their daughter Ele, a sister for Gre in Room 3. We wish you many blessings and send lots of love to the whole family.
Congratulations on your Baptism, Zoey!
On behalf of our whole school community, we congratulate Zoey van Rensburg on her Baptism which took place last Saturday. We pray for many blessings on her and her parents, Stefan and Kirsten. May there always be a light to guide her along the right path.

Netball results - Saturday, 14th June, 2025
St. T’s Magic had a 11 - 0 win against the Tawa Taniwhas. Some great passing to get the ball from the defensive end to the attacking end.
PoD went to Loralei Osborne who had some great intercepts and passing. She also was not afraid to have a go at shooting which resulted in the only goal in the second half. Magic Moments went to Tessa Hasse for her intercepts and to Georgia Price who had a great game at Centre.
St. T’s Ferns played a really hard game against the Ngati Toa Netters losing 2 - 28. Our first loss of the season. We had two PoDs: Isaac Kerr for creating space, passing, intercepting and chasing the ball down and Sophia Docherty for having her arms up in defence and getting rebounds and never giving up. We also had two Magic Moments: Our captain, Aurora Smith, gave her Magic Moment to Myla Grimwood for sticking with her player and Chloe Rousell got the second Magic Moment for a wonderful shot in the second half. Super proud of the team.
St. Ts Stars played Greenferns this week and won 7 - 3! They had a great game, working as a team to bring the ball down court to our shooters who put up some great shots at goal. PoD went to Acacia Davey who got numerous intercepts, playing a great game on defence. MM went to Ada Millington who put up a shot at goal from far away and scored! Captain's choice MM went to Zoey Giles for an awesome game.
St. T's Saints had a tough loss, 0 - 19 to Titahi Bay. PoD was Lucy Barber for great use of space and MM went to Cooper Baldwin for a wonderful intercept of the centre pass.
Regional Cross Country Results
A little peep into all the hard work that the children put in to making our celebration such a huge success.
